FAQ
Is the Outlands Portal Vendor Search an official Outlands website?
Yes, the Outlands Portal Vendor Search is an official website. It is safe to log in and provide your account details.
Do I need to use a script to upload my vendor inventory, or is it automatic?
No script is needed. The process is automatic. Items appear on the website within 5 minutes (this delay is intentional) and are removed instantly when purchased.
How often is my vendor updated?
If a new item is listed, there will be a delay before it appears in the search results (currently set to 5 minutes, but this may change). If an item is bought or removed, it will disappear from the vendor search within 10 seconds.
What is rate limiting, and how does it affect my use of the website?
Rate limiting is a system that manages the frequency of requests made to the website, ensuring stability and performance for all users.
The Outlands Portal Vendor Search applies both short-term and long-term rate limits:
- Short-term limits control the number of searches a player can perform in quick succession.
- Long-term limits apply if a player makes excessive searches over a longer period, potentially requiring wait times before they can continue searching.
The exact limits are not publicly disclosed to prevent abuse. If you encounter a rate limit, pause your activity and try again later. These measures ensure a reliable experience for everyone.
My vendor isn't listed. What's happening?
Your vendor will not appear in search results if it is set to Guild Only or Alliance Only. If your vendor should be visible and is still missing, check the "last synced" timestamp on the vendor search page. If this appears correct but your vendor is still not listed, it may be a bug—please report it to @tranq on Discord or open a bug ticket via #support.
How does the vendor locate button work?
Clicking the Locate Vendor button on the website will enable the in-game vendor locator feature. The next time you switch to the game client, a vendor locator gump will open with detailed information on how to find the vendor. If you are running multiple clients, repeat the process and focus on the desired client for the vendor locator.
