Ship Upgrades are special components found at sea that allow captains to enhance their vessel's performance, unlock powerful abilities, and customize its appearance. This page outlines the different upgrade types and how they function. Return to the main Ships page.
Acquiring and Applying Upgrades
Unlike regular loot, Ship Upgrades (and Crewmember Contracts) are not physical items found in holds or chests. When generated as loot from sources like MIB Salvage Crates, NPC ship holds, or Boss kills, they are automatically assigned to your ship as "Pending Salvage". This pending loot is inaccessible while at sea and its count is displayed in the Ship Overview Gump.

Upon docking your ship, all Pending Salvage is transferred to your personal Salvage System, where it becomes immediately available for retrieval. Retrieved upgrades can then be installed onto a ship using the Upgrades Gump Tab. Note that removing installed upgrades may require having the Ship Deed in your backpack.
