The Hamstring ability allows players to temporarily hinder their target's movement, proving useful in both PvM positioning and PvP chasing or escaping.
Requirements
Skill Requirements
To attempt a Hamstring attack, a player must have at least 80.0 skill in two or more of the following support skills:
Weapon Requirements
Hamstring attempts can be made with the following weapon skills:
- Fencing
- Macing
- Swordsmanship
- Wrestling (including unarmed)
- Archery weapons cannot be used for Hamstring attempts.
Secondary Weapon Skills (Optional Bonus)
Having 80.0 or higher skill in multiple valid weapon types can provide additional benefits:
- PvM Hamstring Bonus: Players with 80+ skill in at least two of Archery, Fencing, Fishing, Macing, Swordsmanship, or Wrestling may gain PvM combat bonuses when Hamstring is active (details need confirmation - often relates to applying it via other means).
- PvP Hamstring Bonus: Players with 80+ skill in at least two of Archery, Fencing, Macing, or Swordsmanship may gain PvP combat bonuses (details need confirmation).
Activation and Cooldowns
- Hamstring is an independent ability and does not automatically trigger with Disarm.
- Activate Hamstring mode using the client's "Stun" special move hotkey (often assigned in Razor/Assistant), typing `[Hamstring`, or via the Paperdoll → Help → Commands → Mechanics tab.
- The command `[HamstringUntoggleMode` adjusts automatic toggle settings.
- When active, your next successful attack with a valid weapon type will attempt the Hamstring.
Cooldowns:
- Missed Attack: If you miss an attack while Hamstring mode is active, you must wait 15 seconds before the next Hamstring attempt (the mode typically stays active to retry).
- Successful Hamstring: After landing a successful Hamstring, the attacker cannot attempt another Hamstring on any target for a duration based on their Dexterity:
- 100 DEX: 30 second cooldown.
- 25 DEX: 53 second cooldown (scales linearly between these points).
- Target Immunity: Once a player or creature is successfully hamstrung, they cannot be hamstrung again for 30 seconds.
- Hamstring and Disarm can be applied to the same target simultaneously and have independent cooldowns.
Hamstring Effects
PvM
- Creatures hit by Hamstring become Entangled for 6 seconds.
- Entangled creatures cannot move but can still attack, cast spells, and use abilities if in range.
- If a player is hit by a Hamstring effect from a creature, the player is Entangled for only 2 seconds.
PvP
- Players hit by a Hamstring attack have their Stamina reduced to 0 for 3 seconds.
- This forces the player to walk slowly. After 3 seconds, their stamina instantly restores to its previous value (it does not regenerate from 0). This effect ignores stamina regeneration rates.
